Fours SEQ Cup 2026 Sets the Standard in Inaugural Regional Event
The first ever Fours SEQ Cup delivered a huge weekend of representative competition, bringing together regional talent from across South East Queensland for an exciting showcase of the sport. With 58 matches played and 758 total points scored, the event set a strong benchmark for what SEQ Cup can become in the years ahead.
From close finishes to dominant performances, the tournament showed the strength of regional rivalry and the growth of Fours across multiple divisions. Teams combined for 219 total tries, made up of 148 regular tries and 71 bonus zone tries, highlighting the attacking intent that was on display all weekend. With an average of 13.1 points per game and an average winning margin of 6.6 points, the competition produced a strong mix of tight contests and quality performances.

The inaugural SEQ Cup saw titles shared across several regions, with Brisbane and Gold Coast leading the way across the weekend.

At the end of the tournament, Brisbane Hornets were crowned overall Region Champions, taking home the most championship titles across the event. Gold Coast finished second, driven by a strong showing through the junior divisions, while Sunshine Coast placed third after claiming two titles. Redlands finished fourth and were unable to secure a championship at the inaugural event.
The standout numbers from the weekend
The numbers from SEQ Cup 2026 reflect just how entertaining the event was from start to finish.
Field 1 was the highest scoring field of the tournament, producing 173 total points across the weekend. The highest scoring match finished 19–18, showing just how dramatic some of the contests became when teams traded points deep into games.
The highest points by one team in a single game was 19, while the tournament also reinforced how valuable defensive discipline can be in Fours, with strong structure proving just as important as attacking flair.
On the team side, Gold Coast Kea stood out as the best attacking team, scoring 49 points in the Under 8/9s division. Defensively, Gold Coast Orcas were recognised as the best defensive team, finishing the Women’s Prems division conceding 0.0 points per game against.

Cameron Feary was one of the standout players of the tournament, also finishing as the Top Try Scorer with 18 tries, while recording 20 total points across the event. His impact across the weekend made him one of the key figures of the inaugural SEQ Cup.
Another interesting stat from the tournament was that Jersey #7 proved to be the most productive jersey number, accounting for 18 tries.
A strong start for SEQ Cup
As the first ever Fours SEQ Cup, this event marked an important milestone in the growth of representative Fours. It gave players across multiple age groups and divisions the chance to represent their region, compete for silverware and help establish the standard for future SEQ Cup tournaments.
